Yahriesha Ortiz Obituary, Death – The tragic incident that unfolded in Cleveland on Thursday, which police are investigating as a murder-suicide, has claimed the life of 24-year-old Yahriesha Ortiz. According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, Ortiz was fatally shot following a verbal argument with a 22-year-old man, later identified as the suspect in the case.
Police were alerted to the situation around 5 p.m. on Thursday, after receiving reports of gunfire on the 2700 block of Natchez Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
The argument between Ortiz and the suspect escalated, leading the suspect to fire multiple shots at her, police said. During the altercation, two other individuals—a 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man—were also struck by the gunfire.
After the shooting, officers at the scene located the suspect and initiated a chase. However, during the pursuit, the suspect turned the gun on himself and shot himself. Cleveland EMS quickly responded to the scene, where Ortiz was pronounced dead.
The two additional victims were transported to MetroHealth Hospital for treatment. One of them is reported to be in stable condition, while the other remains in serious condition.
The suspect was also taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
While authorities are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, the investigation is still ongoing, and details may evolve as more information becomes available.
