Wyatt was driving a 2005 Pontiac, with his 13-year-old sister as the passenger. While traveling, the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban SUV driven by 60-year-old Kevin Johnson. Johnson is a social studies teacher at Edgewood City Schools, according to Superintendent Kelly Spivey.

Tragically, Wyatt was pronounced dead at the scene. His sister sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Dayton Children’s Hospital via CareFlight. Johnson was also critically injured and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Wyatt was a junior at Preble Shawnee Local Schools, and his sister also attends school in the same district. In response to the tragedy, Superintendent Todd Bowling sent a letter to families, informing them of the incident and the availability of counselors and support staff to assist students in processing the heartbreaking news.
