William Alan Dressler Obituary, Death – The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that William Alan Dressler, a 71-year-old resident of Redding, was the victim shot and killed outside his home last week. The coroner’s office has completed a postmortem examination and notified Dressler’s next of kin.

On Thursday, August 29, around 10 a.m., Redding Police Department (RPD) officers responded to a report of gunshots near Brent Road and Wilshire Drive. Upon arrival, they found Dressler deceased near the driveway of his home, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The suspect in the shooting, identified as 34-year-old Robert Milton, fled to his residence across the street after the incident. Police reported that Milton later emerged from his home armed with a firearm but was apprehended without further violence. During the arrest, Milton reportedly assaulted several officers, resulting in one officer requiring medical attention and subsequently being placed on paid leave.

Milton has been charged with first-degree murder, battery, and obstructing and resisting law enforcement. The Redding Police Department and the Shasta County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the case.
