Steven MacCash Obituary, Death – A tragic motorcycle accident in Phelps County claimed the life of a Rolla man on Tuesday night. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) identified the victim as 49-year-old Steven MacCash, who was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at the time of the crash.

According to the MSHP crash report, MacCash was traveling eastbound on County Road 7340 at around 10:04 p.m. when he collided with a deer that had entered the roadway. The impact of the collision caused MacCash to be thrown from his motorcycle. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene by responding troopers.

MSHP also noted that MacCash was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The lack of a helmet may have contributed to the severity of his injuries, though the primary cause of the accident was the collision with the deer.

This incident marks the sixth fatality in the region for the month of October, according to MSHP’s Troop I. The crash highlights the dangers that motorcyclists face, particularly in rural areas where wildlife crossings are more common. Authorities continue to stress the importance of wearing helmets and other protective gear while riding, as well as the need for caution when traveling on roads where animals may appear unexpectedly.

The community is mourning the loss of MacCash, and the incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with motorcycle riding, especially in areas prone to wildlife activity.
