Sherese Allen Obituary, Death – Authorities identified the woman who was tragically killed after being run over by an SUV near the Santa Monica Pier last week. The Medical Examiner’s office revealed that the victim was 34-year-old Sherese Allen, who died from traumatic asphyxia. Police indicated that Allen was believed to be homeless.

The incident occurred late Thursday night when officers were alerted to a “vehicle stuck in the sand” around 11:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of the beach. Upon arrival, police found Allen wedged beneath an Infiniti SUV, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Despite attempts by emergency responders to assist her, the Santa Monica Fire Department declared Allen dead at the scene. To remove her from beneath the vehicle, firefighters used specialized equipment to lift the SUV.

Witnesses reported that the driver of the SUV had been recklessly driving in circles at high speeds on the sand before the accident occurred, ultimately leading to the fatal incident.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Yuyang Sun from Arcadia, was subsequently arrested on charges that include driving under the influence, reckless driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Sun is currently being held at the Santa Monica Police Department with a bail set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Tuesday, according to records from the county jail. The case has raised concerns about public safety and the potential dangers of reckless driving, particularly in areas frequented by pedestrians and beachgoers.
