Sergio Lira Obituary, Death – A man fatally shot in the northwest suburbs on Sunday has been identified by police. The shooting occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the 300 block of Cedar Circle in Streamwood.
According to neighbors, gunfire erupted in the street following a fight that broke out among several individuals who had attended a children’s birthday party at the house. Police reported that 24-year-old Sergio Lira, from Elgin, was shot during the altercation. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Authorities have taken multiple people into custody, but no further details have been provided regarding a nearly 10-hour lockdown that followed the incident. Residents were asked to shelter in place during this time. Despite the tense situation, police emphasized that the shooting was an isolated event, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
