Seikeya Jones Obituary, Death – Seikeya Jones, 31, has been identified as the woman whose body was discovered inside a suitcase in a wooded area in Huntington, Suffolk County police confirmed. Jones, who had no known address, was found on Tuesday, though the cause of her death remains undetermined pending further investigation by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officers responded to the scene at 11:50 a.m. after receiving a call about a suspicious item near 320 Nassau Road, close to an apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found a suitcase containing Jones’s body.
The discovery of the body was reported after a local resident, Chris Smocer, spoke with NBC 4 New York. Smocer explained that her daughter, while out walking, noticed a strong odor coming from a suitcase and realized something was wrong. She called Smocer, and together they decided to notify the police. Upon closer inspection, a foot or shoe appeared to be sticking out of the suitcase, leading to the grim discovery.
Additionally, a woman told reporters on Thursday that her daughter had been a friend of Seikeya Jones. In a separate report by Huntington Now, a man living near the site of the discovery claimed to have footage from the apartment building’s hallway that showed Jones, followed later by someone carrying a suitcase out of the building. The details of this footage and its relevance to the investigation are still being examined.
Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the Suffolk County Homicide Squad detectives or Crime Stoppers, as they continue to investigate this suspicious death.
