Segura-Cruz Obituary, Joshua Pedro Pelico Death – The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed the identities of the four individuals who lost their lives in a shooting incident at a park in northwest Georgia. The deceased include Joshua Pedro Pelico, 19, and David Antonio Delgadillo, 21, both from Dalton, along with Daniel Segura-Cruz, 17, and Robert Valencia, 18, who were residents of Rome. The tragic event occurred at Pleasant Grove Park in Dalton around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Segura-Cruz was a student enrolled at Rome High School. A 16-year-old, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been charged with four counts of felony murder.
Sheriff Scott Chitwood indicated that investigators suspect the shooting was initiated by individuals traveling from Rome to meet two of the victims at the park “for the purpose of obtaining contraband.”
“Evidence also indicates that both groups arrived at the scene armed,” Chitwood stated. “Consequently, gunfire was exchanged between the parties involved.”
The park is situated approximately 90 miles northwest of Atlanta.
