Sadhu Singh Obituary, Death – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred in New Castle on Monday afternoon. The crash happened at around 2:17 p.m. on South Dupont Highway near Heddington Road.
According to authorities, a GMC Savana, driven by a 40-year-old man from Smyrna, was traveling northbound in the left lane when 80-year-old Sadhu Singh of New Castle attempted to cross the highway from the west to the east side. Singh was not using a designated crosswalk and stepped directly into the vehicle’s path. Despite the driver’s effort to swerve to the right, the vehicle struck Singh.
The driver was not injured, but Singh was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dupont Highway was closed for approximately two and a half hours as the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation and cleared the area.
