Rohith Gurumurthy, Zaveriya Shaikh Obituary, Death – A tragic motorcycle crash in Bridgeport on Thursday claimed the lives of two individuals, according to local police. The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a call at 1:05 p.m. reporting a single-vehicle motorcycle accident at the intersection of Waldemere Avenue and Atlantic Street. Emergency responders, including Bridgeport Fire Engine 3, American Medical Response (AMR), and the Bridgeport police, arrived at the scene shortly after the call.
When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman lying unresponsive in the grass beside a motorcycle, which had veered off the road near Atlantic Street. Despite efforts by AMR personnel to revive them, both individuals succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were later identified as 29-year-old Rohith Gurumurthy, the motorcycle’s operator, and 23-year-old Zaveriya Shaikh, who was riding as the passenger.
According to police, initial findings suggest that Gurumurthy and Shaikh had been riding a 2016 black Ducati Scrambler 80, heading east on Waldemere Road before continuing onto Atlantic Street. At some point during the ride, Gurumurthy lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to leave the road, mount the curb, and come to rest near the safety bollards on Atlantic Street.
The Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team was called to the scene to gather more details and further investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
This fatal accident has left the community in shock as authorities work to piece together what led to the tragic loss of two young lives.
