Robert Leeper Obituary, Death – A family from Central Valley is seeking justice after Robert Leeper was tragically killed in a DUI hit-and-run in Selma. The suspect, Roberto Cisneros, who works for the City of Selma’s Public Works Department, has a history of two prior DUIs, causing outrage and concern for Leeper’s family.
Leeper, described as a loving son, brother, and uncle, brought joy and laughter to those around him. Despite facing homelessness at times, his niece, Amanda Sanchez, recalls how he was always there for her and her children. She fondly remembers him as a humorous, caring person who was willing to help anyone in need. About six months ago, Leeper got a dog named Nellie, who became his constant companion and tragically died alongside him in the crash.
The accident occurred when 39-year-old Cisneros allegedly struck Leeper near Floral and Wright around 8:15 p.m. on Friday, then fled the scene. Cisneros, who was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time, now faces charges including murder, DUI causing injury, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Leeper’s family was devastated to learn about Cisneros’ prior DUI convictions. Sanchez expressed frustration, questioning how Cisneros was still employed by the city after two DUIs, and now responsible for the death of her uncle and his dog.
Leeper’s sister, Shellie, cherishes the memories of her older brother, who was known for his generosity and kindness. Sanchez is determined to seek justice, stating that Cisneros deserves life in prison for his actions.
Cisneros is being held on a $1.2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 10. The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses.
