The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m., when a Chevy Cruze, driven by 26-year-old Carissa Robin Swan, struck a pedestrian crossing US 17. The victim, identified as 60-year-old Raymond Hemeon, who lived in Jacksonville, was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident and did not yield the right of way to the vehicle.
