Phillip Jacob Pennartz, Tina Marie Pennartz Obituary, Death – A tragic head-on collision on U.S. Highway 287 in Wise County on Saturday night left two people dead and five others seriously injured, who were airlifted to North Texas hospitals.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the accident occurred around 9:17 p.m. near Hubbard Street. The crash was initiated when the driver of a 2016 Hyundai Accent lost control while navigating a curve. The Hyundai, traveling northbound, crossed the median and entered southbound traffic, where it collided with a 2020 Toyota Camry.
Two passengers in the Hyundai were killed in the crash, while the driver and a child in the same vehicle sustained injuries. The three occupants of the Toyota were also injured and required medical evacuation.
Authorities identified the two deceased passengers as 58-year-old Phillip Jacob Pennartz and 54-year-old Tina Marie Pennartz. The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old Emily Marie Pennartz, and a 6-year-old child named Trace Pennartz, both survived the collision. They were airlifted to hospitals in Fort Worth for treatment.
The occupants of the Toyota Camry were also seriously injured. The driver, 36-year-old Bryan James Rahm, along with two passengers, 40-year-old Adam Lynn Brooks and 38-year-old Carlton Mancuso Sherman, were transported via air ambulance to hospitals in Denton and Dallas.
At this time, the conditions of the survivors have not been made public, and authorities have not disclosed whether any charges will be filed in connection with the deadly crash.
The Texas DPS continues to investigate the accident, and no additional information has been released.
