Peter Lundgren Cause of Death: Peter Lundgren, the former Swedish tennis player who played a significant role in coaching Roger Federer during the early stages of the Swiss athlete’s career, has sadly passed away at the age of 59, as confirmed by his family on Friday. His son, Lukas Lundgren, expressed his grief on Faceboo, stating, “One of the best has unfortunately left us far too soon.”
Lundgren was part of the prominent group of Swedish tennis players in the 1980s, following the legacy of the legendary Bjorn Borg, and competed alongside notable players such as Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg.
“Peter Lundgren was a remarkable individual, known for his kindness and sense of humor,” remarked Borg in an interview with the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
“He was cherished by everyone. His absence will be deeply felt in the tennis community.”
Throughout his career, Lundgren secured three ATP titles and achieved a career-high ranking of 25th in the world. After retiring from professional play, he dedicated four years to coaching Federer, during which time he guided the Swiss champion to 10 ATP titles and his inaugural Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon in 2003.
