Mylik Birdsong Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of professional boxer Mylik Birdsong, also known as “King Malik,” which occurred on Sunday afternoon in South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a report of the shooting at around 4:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of 87th Street.

The preliminary investigation by LAPD revealed that Birdsong, 31, was standing outside a vehicle in which his girlfriend was sitting. As they were there, a dark-colored SUV approached, traveling westbound on 87th Street. According to an LAPD spokesperson, someone inside the SUV opened fire on Birdsong.

In an attempt to escape, Birdsong ran toward his residence, but two suspects exited the SUV and chased him, continuing to shoot as he ran. Despite their efforts, Birdsong was pronounced dead after suffering seven gunshot wounds to his torso.

Following the shooting, the suspects quickly fled the scene in the same dark-colored SUV.
