Muna Pandey Obituary, Death – Houston Police are currently searching for a suspect involved in the shooting death of 21-year-old Muna Pandey, who was found dead in her southwest Houston apartment. Pandey, originally from Nepal, was an only child studying nursing at Houston Community College and also worked at a local phone store, according to her friends.
On Monday at around 5:35 p.m., police were called to Pandey’s apartment located at 6363 West Airport Boulevard after a staff member reported receiving an anonymous tip about a body in one of the units. Upon arrival, officers discovered Pandey’s body with multiple gunshot wounds.
As of now, the police have not identified the shooter but have released a surveillance image from the apartment complex, showing a suspect leaving the scene. The image, timestamped at 9:48 p.m. on Saturday, is the only lead available. Detectives have not provided information about when Pandey was last seen or the exact time of her death.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has confirmed that Pandey’s death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
Friends of Pandey, speaking to KPRC 2, indicated that they did not recognize the individual in the surveillance image and had no idea who the suspect might be. They also reported not hearing from Pandey since Saturday.
Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the killing. In response to the tragedy, Pandey’s mother is reportedly trying to secure an emergency visa to come to the U.S. to seek justice for her daughter.
Houston Community College has not yet responded to inquiries from KPRC 2 regarding the incident.
