Police responded to a report of multiple individuals forcefully kicking in the front door of a home on the 600 block of Buckshutem Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the body of 51-year-old Monica Mosley, a sergeant detective with the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. Mosley had been shot and killed during the incident.

The investigation quickly led local and state police to a suspect receiving treatment for a gunshot wound at a hospital in Camden. The suspect was taken in for questioning, but authorities have not yet made any arrests or filed charges in connection with the case.

Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari expressed his sorrow over Mosley’s death, calling it “truly devastating.” The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, where Mosley had served since 2006, is mourning her loss as well.

In a statement, the prosecutor’s office described Mosley as a dedicated and beloved member of the law enforcement community. “Sergeant Mosley was a constant friend and role model for all those with whom she served and led throughout Cumberland County and beyond. She will be missed more than words can detail, but she will never be forgotten by her CCPO family.”
