Miranda K. Douglas Obituary, Death – A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning, September 20, 2024, on Highway 94, just east of Howell Road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2009 Honda Accord, driven by 22-year-old Miquel A. Smith from St. Peters, Missouri, failed to navigate a curve, leading to an overcorrection and causing the vehicle to overturn after veering off the road to the right.

The crash resulted in multiple injuries and one fatality. The details of those involved in the incident are as follows:

Miranda K. Douglas, a 22-year-old from St. Charles, Missouri, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:48 a.m. by personnel from the New Melle Fire Protection District. Her body was subsequently transported to the St. Louis County Morgue by the St. Charles County Medical Examiner’s office.

Miquel A. Smith, the driver, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by the St. Charles County Ambulance District. It was reported that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Savannah L. Burfield, a 21-year-old passenger from O’Fallon, Missouri, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. She, too, was not wearing a seat belt.

Gabriel A. Angelo, another passenger in the vehicle and a 22-year-old from St. Peters, Missouri, sustained serious injuries and was similarly taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. He was also not wearing a seat belt.

Braden J. Moore, a 23-year-old from St. Peters, Missouri, was also in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries but was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

The vehicle involved in the accident was totaled and subsequently towed from the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to gather further details surrounding the incident.
