Michael Desmond, Riley Goot Obituary, Death – A tragic car accident in West Babylon on Saturday morning resulted in two fatalities and left four others with serious injuries, according to Suffolk County police. The crash occurred around 1 AM when 33-year-old Michael Desmond from Lindenhurst was driving a 2017 Kia sedan east on Railroad Avenue. Police reported that Desmond failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Great East Neck Road, colliding with a southbound 2025 Kia Seltos.
Desmond was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Riley Goot, an 18-year-old passenger in the Seltos from Babylon, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was also declared dead.
The Seltos was driven by 17-year-old Bella Trezza, also from Babylon. She, along with her passengers—18-year-olds Austin Trezza and Jack Murphy—were transported to Good Samaritan for treatment of serious injuries. Another passenger, 16-year-old Anthony Pagliuca from West Babylon, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for his injuries.
In response to the accident, police impounded both vehicles to conduct safety checks. They are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
