Matthew Arthur Fassnacht Obituary, Death – Over the weekend, a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of five people, including a Marietta man, in North Carolina. The incident occurred on Saturday evening at the Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport, located in Kill Devil Hills. Among those who perished was Matthew Arthur Fassnacht, a 44-year-old resident of Marietta.
Fassnacht was on board a Cirrus SR-22 aircraft along with four other individuals. The other victims of the crash have been identified as 31-year-old Shashwat Ajit Adhikari from Silver Spring, Maryland, 43-year-old Jason Ray Campbell, 39-year-old Kate McAllister from Southern Pines, North Carolina, and a 6-year-old child. Sadly, none of the passengers survived the crash.
In response to the tragedy, Outer Banks Group Superintendent David Hallac issued a heartfelt statement expressing sympathy on behalf of the National Park Service. Hallac conveyed the deepest condolences from the employees of Wright Brothers National Memorial, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, offering support to the grieving families, friends, and loved ones affected by the incident.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been tasked with determining what led to the fatal accident.
