Mairi D. Scott, James E. Dayries Obituary, Death – Over the weekend in Etowah County, a single-vehicle accident resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The Alabama State Troopers have identified the victims as James E. Dayries, 64, from Louisiana, and Mairi D. Scott, 72, from Tennessee. The announcement of their deaths was made on Thursday, though the reason for the delay was not immediately disclosed.
The crash occurred at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday on Interstate 59, approximately 12 miles north of Attalla. According to Senior Trooper Cody Farrar, Dayries was driving a GMC box truck when it veered off the road and collided with a tree. Both Dayries and Scott, who was a passenger in the truck, were declared dead at the scene.
The Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
