Lisa Bailey, Jennifer Bailey Obituary, Death – Maine State Police and Bath Police have identified the victims and the suspect involved in a double homicide that occurred on Sunday morning in Bath, which led to a temporary shelter-in-place order for the local neighborhood.
The victims were 58-year-old Lisa Bailey and her 32-year-old daughter, Jennifer Bailey. Both were found with gunshot wounds when police arrived at their residence on Crawford Drive shortly after 7 a.m. Medics tried to save them, but sadly, both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified Lisa’s husband, Michael Bailey, as the person responsible for the shootings. After the incident, police issued a shelter-in-place order for the area north of North Street, asking residents to stay inside while they searched for Michael and investigated the situation on Crawford Drive.
Michael Bailey was later found inside the home, having died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shelter-in-place order was lifted about two hours after it was initially imposed, once the police determined there was no longer a threat to the public.
Bath Police Chief Andrew Booth expressed the community’s shock at the tragedy, acknowledging the difficulty many are having in understanding what happened. He reassured residents that there was no further danger and that authorities had been in touch with neighbors and the broader community to provide support.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for further examination. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, working to establish a complete timeline of events. They have urged anyone with additional information to reach out to the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit or the Bath Police Department to assist with the investigation.
