Leonard Nielsen Obituary, Death – In Dodge County, an 80-year-old man tragically lost his life in a three-vehicle accident that occurred last week, according to the local sheriff’s office.
The incident took place on a Friday around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 275 and Luther Road, situated just northeast of Fremont. Authorities revealed that a red GMC pickup truck was traveling south on Luther Road. As the driver attempted to cross Highway 275, the pickup collided with an eastbound Ford Mustang.
The force of the impact propelled the pickup into a ditch located to the south of the highway, while the Mustang spun out of control, subsequently crashing into a white GMC Yukon that had been stationary on Luther Road.
The driver of the GMC pickup was identified as Leonard Nielsen, a resident of Fremont. Following the crash, he was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. It was noted that Nielsen was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, and deputies reported that the vehicle lacked airbags.
Investigators confirmed that neither excessive speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in this tragic collision. The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation into the details surrounding the crash.
