Kristina Lara Obituary, Death – A tragic car crash at a busy Phoenix intersection on Friday afternoon resulted in the deaths of 25-year-old Kristina Lara and her 2-month-old baby, Josiah Lara. The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. According to Phoenix police, the crash involved a silver sedan, driven by a 23-year-old man traveling south on 19th Avenue, and a black pickup truck. Witnesses reported that the sedan driver was weaving through traffic and sped through a yellow light before colliding with the pickup.
The pickup, driven by a 75-year-old man, was turning left onto Lower Buckeye Road when the sedan struck it. While the truck driver was unharmed, the impact proved fatal for Lara and her infant son, who were in the sedan. Three other children in the sedan were taken to the hospital as a precaution to assess potential injuries.
Police have stated that impairment was not a factor in the crash, though they continue to investigate the details and events leading up to the collision. Authorities noted that none of the children in the sedan were secured with seat belts or car seats. They are still determining whether charges may be filed in connection with the accident.
