Kathryn Hong Obituary, Death – Police in Monterey are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that took place over the weekend, as confirmed by the department on Monday. The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. when a pick-up truck, driven by a 23-year-old man from Salinas, struck a 65-year-old woman named Kathryn Hong while she was in a crosswalk. The collision happened at the intersection of Del Monte Avenue and Calle Principal.

Hong sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she later died. The driver of the truck, who was unharmed, stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police do not currently suspect that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Monterey Police Department will forward the case to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office for review, where officials will determine whether criminal charges should be filed against the driver.
