Karl Komorowski Obituary, Death- Glendale police have identified the man who was shot and killed by officers on Wednesday as Karl Komorowski, 37. The shooting occurred after multiple reports indicated that Komorowski had violated a protection order intended to keep him away from a woman and her child.

The situation began unfolding around 12:30 p.m. when neighbors reported that Komorowski was unlawfully inside a residence near North 56th Avenue and West Thunderbird Road. The woman and child, who were the subjects of the protection order, managed to escape from the home before police arrived.

Glendale SWAT and negotiation teams attempted to resolve the situation peacefully over several hours. Despite their efforts, Komorowski refused to exit the residence and instead engaged in a standoff with officers. He eventually began shooting at them from inside the home.

When Komorowski eventually emerged from the house, he was armed with a rifle and charged at the officers. In response to this imminent threat, multiple officers discharged their weapons, fatally wounding him. Komorowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, the woman and child, as well as the responding officers, were unharmed during the confrontation. The incident is now under investigation by the Surprise Police Department, which is reviewing the circumstances leading up to and including the shooting.
