Johnny Bruce, Scott Wittman Obituary, Death – Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 177 in Payne County. The incident occurred around 5:55 a.m. when a pickup truck traveling south on U.S. 177 near East 68th Street turned into a business and collided with two motorcycles. Both motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sky 5 captured footage of the scene, revealing multiple first responders and at least one ambulance present. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is investigating the fatal crash but has not yet determined whether the truck driver will face any charges.
According to Trooper Preston Cox of the OHP, the investigation will consider various factors, including weather conditions, the speed of all vehicles involved, and potential traffic violations. If the driver of the pickup truck is found to have committed a traffic offense, the case could be forwarded to the district attorney for possible charges. The duration of the investigation remains unclear.
The OHP has identified the victims as 54-year-old Johnny Bruce and 54-year-old Scott Wittman, both from Perkins. Reports indicate that neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was cooperating with authorities at the scene.
