Jennifer Anne Sourp-Cain Obituary, Death – The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a woman who was fatally shot in Shingletown as 64-year-old Jennifer Anne Sourp-Cain, a resident of Cloverdale, California. Emergency responders arrived at the scene on the 34000 block of Side Bottom Road and declared Sourp-Cain dead from a gunshot wound. A postmortem examination has been scheduled, and the victim’s next of kin have been notified.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office, continues to investigate the incident. According to authorities, the fatal shooting took place on October 25, 2024, when deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the same location. Upon arriving at the residence, law enforcement discovered Sourp-Cain’s body inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound. The man accused of her death, 46-year-old Joseph Colin Scribner, was arrested and later appeared in court on October 30 for an arraignment.

Scribner faces felony charges of murder and assault with a firearm, as well as a special allegation of personal use of a firearm resulting in great bodily injury or death. He reportedly admitted to being at the scene during the shooting, but the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The defense attorney for Scribner requested a two-week continuance, which was granted by the court. Scribner is currently being held without bail at the Shasta County Jail.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing to gather evidence and conduct their investigation into the tragic shooting, while the local community and Sourp-Cain’s family await further details.
