Jaydin Bahena Obituary, Death – A tragic shooting incident in southwest suburban Summit has been classified as a double homicide, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the teenage victim as Jaydin Bahena, a resident of Summit. Following the shooting on Friday night, Bahena was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries the following day, according to the Summit Police Department.
The incident also involved a 34-year-old man who was shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital; however, his identity has not been disclosed as of now.
Police reports indicate that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hanover and 73rd Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday after receiving calls about gunfire and an individual being struck. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the 16-year-old, later identified as Bahena, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The officers quickly provided assistance and called for emergency medical personnel. Bahena was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Summit Fire Department for treatment but tragically did not survive.
In a separate yet related situation, officers were notified of a potential additional victim located to the north of the initial scene. There, they discovered the 34-year-old man sitting in a vehicle with visible gunshot wounds. He was also taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shootings is ongoing, with the Summit Police Department collaborating with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force to gather more information about the incident. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or has any information to contact the Summit police or submit a tip online.
