The crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. when a westbound 2010 Dodge Charger, driven by Jason D. Roberts of Mt. Sterling, Missouri, veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2000 Kenworth truck. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the impact was severe, and Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene by Gasconade County Coroner Jeff Arnold at 10:02 a.m.
The Kenworth truck was driven by 67-year-old Derald O. Deppe from Morrison, Missouri. Deppe, along with the other occupants involved in the crash, sustained minor injuries. All injured individuals were taken to Mercy Washington hospital for medical treatment. Charles C. Pratt, a 22-year-old passenger in the Dodge Charger, also sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The accident marked the fourth fatality in Troop F’s jurisdiction for the month of September and the 35th for the year 2024. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, with the Major Crash Team conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
