Jared Merrill Obituary, Death – A weekend motorcycle crash claimed the life of 25-year-old Jared Merrill from Pocatello, as confirmed by Power County Deputy Coroner Matt Rose. The accident occurred around 5:40 p.m. Sunday on East County Road, near U.S. Highway 30 in Power County. According to Idaho State Police (ISP), Merrill was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle alongside a 26-year-old man from Pocatello, who was on a 2007 Yamaha. Both riders were headed eastbound together when they failed to navigate a curve, lost control, and slid into a concrete barrier, separating from their motorcycles. The motorcycles and riders ultimately came to rest along the right shoulder of the road.
Despite wearing helmets, Merrill sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other rider experienced only minor injuries, which were treated at the scene, and he did not require hospital transport. The ISP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
