James Zeren Obituary, Death – On the evening of October 1, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated an investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash that involved a pedestrian on LA-139, near Curve Drive. The incident resulted in the death of 31-year-old James Zeren from Monroe.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a 2013 Ford Edge was heading north on LA-139 when it struck Zeren, who was also walking northbound in the same lane. Zeren was dressed in dark clothing at the time of the accident. The exact reasons for the collision are still under investigation. Unfortunately, Zeren sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, who was properly restrained, did not suffer any injuries.

While authorities do not suspect impairment, standard toxicology samples were collected from the driver and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.
