James Hagenbuch Obituary, Death – A tragic one-vehicle crash in Pleasant Township on Monday night left one man dead and two others injured. The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 68 and Township Road 114. According to Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart, Lee Newman, from Dunkirk, was driving northbound when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
James Hagenbuch, a passenger in the front seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Douglas Inmon, a backseat passenger from Dunkirk, sustained serious injuries and was flown to Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus for treatment. Newman, who suffered minor injuries, was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to another facility for additional care.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Kenton Fire Department, BKP EMS, McGuffey Fire Department, Lifeflight, Careflight, Medflight, Hardin County Coroner’s Office, Multi-County Crash Team, and Osborn’s Towing and Recovery. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
