Jacob M. Dunn Obituary, Death – An 87-year-old man from Marble Hill, Missouri, lost his life in a tragic accident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a car on the evening of September 20, 2024. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place around 5:02 p.m. on Route OO, located seven miles south of Patton in Bollinger County.
Jacob M. Dunn was operating a 2004 Yamaha ATV heading west when he was struck from behind by a 2017 Ford Edge, which was also traveling westbound. The driver of the Ford Edge, 18-year-old Wyatt S. Welker, is a resident of Marble Hill. Authorities stated that Welker did not yield and collided with the back of Dunn’s ATV.
Dunn, who was not wearing any safety gear at the time of the accident, was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Sadly, he was pronounced dead later that evening at 11:36 p.m. by Dr. Chad Armstrong. The authorities have notified Dunn’s next of kin regarding his passing.
The Ford Edge sustained moderate damage from the collision and was subsequently towed away by Wills Towing. Information about whether Welker was wearing a seat belt at the time remains unclear, but he was not reported to have sustained any injuries in the incident.
This unfortunate event marks the 45th fatality recorded by Troop E in 2024. The Missouri State Highway Patrol received assistance at the scene from Trooper D.L. Brawley, Trooper D.W. Welker, and Sergeant M.B. Lomedico, who is part of the Major Crash Investigation Unit.
