Jackson Roy Law Obituary, Death – A man has died following a fall from a houseboat on Lake Powell early Sunday morning. At around 3 a.m. on August 25, the National Park Service (NPS) Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Rangers were alerted by San Juan County, Utah dispatch about a person missing from a houseboat in Wetherill Canyon on Lake Powell. The individual, later identified as 41-year-old Jackson Roy Law from Utah, had fallen approximately 20 feet from an upper deck of the houseboat.
NPS rangers, along with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation, responded to the scene. Classic Air Medical was called in to conduct a helicopter search but was unable to locate Law.
Later, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Dive Team found Law’s body at 12:36 p.m. on the same day. NPS rangers declared Law deceased at the scene.
The cause of the fall and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the National Park Service, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, and the San Juan County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The National Park Service and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office have extended their condolences to Law’s family. Additionally, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses.
