Irene Castor Obituary, Death – An elderly woman from Minnesota tragically lost her life on Monday afternoon after driving the wrong way on a major state highway. The incident occurred around 12:50 PM on Highway 169 in Scott County.

According to the State Patrol, the woman, identified as 93-year-old Irene Castor from Belle Plaine, was driving an SUV southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when her vehicle collided head-on with a pickup truck. The crash took place near the area where Highway 169 splits into a divided four-lane road, just south of Belle Plaine.

Irene Castor was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck, 38-year-old Douglas Alexander Johnson from Elk River, was reported to be wearing a seatbelt and fortunately did not sustain any injuries from the collision.

The State Patrol’s investigation into the crash has determined that alcohol was not a factor in the incident. Both the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Belle Plaine Police Department were involved in the response to the fatal accident, assisting the State Patrol with their investigation.
