Ioannis Kyriakopoulos Obituary, Death – Toronto police have confirmed the identity of a 64-year-old man who was tragically shot and killed in the Oakridge neighborhood of Scarborough late Friday night. Authorities received reports of gunfire on Landry Avenue, located near Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road, at approximately 11:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in front of a residence. Despite their efforts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Ioannis Kyriakopoulos, a resident of Toronto, according to police statements made on Saturday.

Detective Sergeant Aaron Akeson addressed the media outside 41 Division on Saturday afternoon, stating, “We are currently in the early stages of our investigation. However, I can confirm that there are at least three suspects who fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.”

He urged any witnesses who may have been present during the incident to come forward, emphasizing that even the smallest piece of information could be crucial to the investigation. Akeson noted that officers arrived at the location within two minutes of the emergency call, but unfortunately, it was too late to save Kyriakopoulos.

“He was a father and a husband, and many people who were close to him are now mourning his loss,” Akeson remarked. “We are dedicating substantial resources to uncover the details of what transpired and to locate the suspects involved.”

Despite the heavy rainfall on Friday night, forensic teams worked diligently to preserve the evidence at the crime scene. While the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, Akeson expressed his belief that it was not a random act. “At this stage, I do believe it was targeted,” he stated.

He also mentioned that the shooting occurred outdoors and that there were other individuals in the vicinity at the time. According to Akeson, two suspects were seen on foot in the area for a period before they escaped with a third individual.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting to contact investigators.
