Eugene Schwarz Obituary, Death – The Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) has determined the cause of a fatal fire that occurred in Fort Collins on August 16. According to a news release from PFA, the fire was caused by an accidental electrical overload. The victim of the fire has been identified by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office as 79-year-old Eugene Schwarz.

PFA responded to the incident just before 6 a.m. in the 4200 block of Gemstone Lane. Several agencies were involved in the investigation, including PFA, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, and Fort Collins Police Services.

PFA Fire Marshal Shawn McGaffin highlighted the importance of collaboration in investigating fire incidents, especially when a fatality is involved. McGaffin noted that such cases are rare in their jurisdiction but require joint efforts with partner agencies.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office stated that the exact cause of Schwarz’s death is still pending toxicology results. However, no foul play is suspected in connection with the incident.
