Emily Larson Obituary, Death – A tragic two-vehicle collision on U.S. 36 in Marshall County resulted in one fatality and one serious injury on Wednesday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:45 AM, just east of West River Road. The crash involved a westbound Jeep Cherokee and an eastbound Buick Enclave.
Emily Larson, 23, from Bremen, was driving the Jeep Cherokee when her vehicle veered across the center line and struck the Buick Enclave. The Enclave was being driven by 89-year-old Bernice Nietfeld of Marysville.
Larson was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Nietfeld was taken to a hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she is being treated for serious injuries.
The investigation revealed that neither Larson nor Nietfeld was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Kansas Highway Patrol highlighted the absence of seatbelt use as a significant factor in the severity of the accident.
