Elijah Stephens Obituary, Death – The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified a motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a collision on Saturday, October 5. The victim was 26-year-old Elijah Stephens, and the incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 24 Frontage Road and West Cimarron Street, near America the Beautiful Park.
CSPD officers arrived at the scene around 8:45 p.m. following reports of a crash involving both a car and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, they found Stephens critically injured. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The investigation was taken over by the Major Crash Team, which conducted a thorough examination of the scene. They discovered that the car involved in the crash was heading west and attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 24 Frontage Road. At the same time, Stephens was riding his motorcycle east on Cimarron at a high rate of speed. As the car executed its turn, the motorcycle collided with the right front corner of the vehicle, resulting in Stephens being thrown from his bike.
Authorities are considering alcohol consumption and excessive speed as potential contributing factors to the crash. The coroner’s office officially identified Stephens on Monday, October 7, confirming his death.
The CSPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the fatal collision.
