Edith Roberts Luffman Obituary, Death – An elderly woman lost her life following a two-vehicle accident in Wilkes County on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The victim, identified as 91-year-old Edith Roberts Luffman, was involved in the collision that occurred on October 6 at approximately 3:30 p.m. The crash took place at the intersection of Hoots Road and Austin Little Mountain Road.
According to troopers, the driver of Luffman’s vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign, which led to the vehicle being struck by a Ford F-250 traveling southwest on Austin Little Mountain Road. Following the collision, the driver of Luffman’s vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries. In contrast, Luffman was transported to the hospital in critical condition and unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. The driver of the F-250 emerged from the crash unharmed.
Preliminary investigations did not reveal any indications that speed or impairment played a role in the accident. Authorities have stated that potential charges could be filed once the investigation concludes.
