Dwight Albrecht Obituary, Death – A fatal crash in Barnes County on Monday morning left one person dead and two others seriously injured. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Barnes County Road 22, approximately one mile east of Sanborn. According to authorities, a semi-truck driven by 59-year-old Dwight Albrecht of Sanborn was transporting soybeans along Highway 1 when a Dodge Avenger attempted to cross the highway. The semi struck the Dodge on its passenger side.
The crash resulted in the death of 46-year-old Sara Leick from Valley City, who was a passenger in the Dodge. The 15-year-old driver of the Dodge, whose name has not been released, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Fargo hospital for treatment. Albrecht, the semi-truck driver, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to a Valley City hospital.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
