Duane Lewis Obituary, Death – A teenager who lost his life after being shot in Oshtemo Township has been identified as 15-year-old Duane Lewis. Deputies from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire on West KL Avenue near Concord Place Drive at approximately 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound. He received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to Bronson Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, Lewis was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities collected multiple pieces of evidence from the crime scene as part of their investigation. Lewis was a student in the Kalamazoo Public Schools system, prompting the district to release a statement acknowledging the tragedy. As of Thursday, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
