Douglas Nielsen Obituary, Death – A tragic accident in Clay County, Iowa, resulted in the death of a 54-year-old man, Douglas Nielsen, on Wednesday morning. The crash occurred about five miles west of Spencer on 350th Street.
According to the crash report, Nielsen was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on 350th Street when he collided with the rear of a Chrysler Town and Country around 8:45 a.m. The impact caused Nielsen to be thrown from his motorcycle. As he was on the roadway, a Chevy Silverado, traveling west on the same street, struck him.
The severity of the collision led to Nielsen being pronounced dead at the scene. His body was subsequently transported to a local funeral home.
Both the Chrysler Town and Country and the Chevy Silverado were towed from the accident site.
The Iowa State Patrol is leading the investigation into the incident, with support from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Fostoria Fire Department, Spencer Fire and Ambulance Departments, and Bud’s Towing. The investigation aims to determine the exact causes and contributing factors of the crash.
