Dominque Miller, Jamontez Johnson Obituary, Death – Metro Police are investigating a double homicide that occurred at Hartman Park in Bordeaux over the weekend. The shooting was reported around 1 a.m. on Sunday, prompting officers to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, police discovered 21-year-old Dominque Miller lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Another victim, 26-year-old Jamontez Johnson, arrived at the hospital independently and also died from his wounds. A third individual suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.

Ernest Jordan, a regular visitor to Hartman Park who has been walking there for 15 years, expressed his shock and concern. He noted that the park had always been safe, and he had previously felt secure bringing his granddaughter to the playground near the shooting site. The incident has left him uneasy about the park’s safety, reflecting on how a stray bullet could have harmed anyone nearby.

On Monday morning, Metro Parks crews began cleaning up the area around the pavilion where the shooting occurred. WSMV cameras captured scenes of litter and empty bottles scattered across the ground. Metro Parks officials emphasized that alcohol is prohibited in parks, and violations are addressed when observed by officers.

Investigators revealed that a group had reserved the pavilion on Saturday night but had left by 11 p.m., the park’s closing time. A separate group arrived a few hours later, and police believe they were connected to the shooting. In response to the incident, both Metro Police and Parks Police have increased their patrols around Hartman Park and the nearby community center. Security cameras have also been installed to monitor the area more closely.

Detectives continued to follow up on leads throughout the day, but no arrests had been made by the end of Monday. The community is urged to provide any information they may have regarding the shooting to Crime Stoppers.
