Dirk Alan O Brien Obituary, Death – Police have identified Dirk Alan O’Brien, a 49-year-old resident of the Marne area, as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 3, at approximately 8 p.m. on westbound I-96, near the Marne exit, according to deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
O’Brien was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control of the bike, causing it to veer off the roadway. He was discovered near his motorcycle, which was located a significant distance from the highway.
O’Brien sustained severe injuries from the crash and was transported to a hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment. Despite medical efforts, the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office informed investigators the following day that O’Brien had succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
