The shooting occurred in the West Chatham neighborhood, specifically on the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue, around 4:30 p.m. At that time, a 30-year-old man, later identified as Devon Beal by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, was driving westbound on 79th Street.
