Daniel Andrew Carrico-Lynn, Leon Torres Obituary, Death – Seaside Police have reported that two men were killed in a DUI-related crash late Sunday night, which involved a homeless pedestrian. The incident took place when a vehicle, traveling at a high speed of 100 miles per hour on Del Monte Boulevard, veered onto an island at the intersection of Del Monte and Fremont, where it struck a pedestrian.
After hitting the pedestrian, the vehicle continued onto Fremont, crashing through a raised barrier meant for a left turn lane before ultimately overturning. The driver of the vehicle was ejected during the crash.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 19-year-old Leon Torres from Watsonville. The pedestrian who was killed has been identified as 40-year-old Daniel Andrew Carrico-Lynn, a transient from Monterey County.
Authorities reported that the vehicle was carrying multiple occupants from Watsonville, all of whom were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Additionally, investigators revealed that Torres had a suspended driver’s license and was currently on probation for a previous DUI offense.
