Dalequavion Barnard York Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified a 17-year-old victim killed in a shooting that also injured five others over the weekend in south Lubbock County. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired around 2:58 a.m. in the 9200 block of the U.S. Highway 87 frontage road. Deputies found Dalequavion Barnard York, 17, dead at the scene, along with five others who had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Three of the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals by private vehicles, while the remaining two were taken by ambulance. Initial investigations suggest that a large number of people were present in the area, which is close to several clubs, when gunfire broke out after a confrontation.
As of Monday afternoon, two individuals had been arrested on unrelated charges. Officials have indicated that the shooting seems to be an isolated incident, posing no threat to the wider public. However, details regarding the motive behind the shooting or descriptions of any suspects have not yet been disclosed. The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is leading the investigation to gather more information and determine the cause of the violence.
