Corey Johns, Jibaris Veal Obituary, Death – The Richland County Coroner has identified the two men who were fatally shot near Columbia on Saturday night. Coroner Naida Rutherford confirmed on Monday morning that the victims were 40-year-old Corey Johns from Lexington and 37-year-old Jibaris Veal from Columbia.
The shooting took place in the 300 block of Koon Store Road, located just off Fairfield Road and a few miles north of Columbia. Richland County deputies responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Saturday following a report of gunfire.
According to the incident report, deputies discovered a Jeep Cherokee inside a shed on the property. The two victims were found inside the vehicle, having succumbed to their injuries.
At this time, investigators have not disclosed any information regarding the motive behind the shooting or potential suspects.
